Wayne G. Mace
Wayne G. Mace, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Repp) Mace, was born August 6, 1951 at Perry, Iowa and departed this life October 22, 2011 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He lived his life to the age of 60 years, 2 months and 16 days.
Wayne grew up in the Paton area and attended school; graduating in 1969 from the Paton-Churdan High School. On August 4, 1972, Wayne Mace was united in marriage to Sherry Mosher at the Methodist Church in Rinard, Iowa. Two children, Todd and Tracy, were born to the union. Over the years, Wayne was employed by several elevators in Iowa and Minnesota as a salesman of agricultural chemicals. His employment meant that he and Sherry lived in various communities and they came to Jefferson in 1998 and Wayne was at the time of his death employed at West Central Coop in Jefferson. They moved to their present home in Jefferson in 2005. Wayne enjoyed fishing and having breakfast and talking with the guys in the morning.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Sherry, a son, Todd and his wife, Pam, and their son, Logan, of Indianola, a daughter, Tracy Mace, a sister, Donna Wolterman and her special friend, Gailen Johnson of Jefferson, and two brothers, Loren Mace and his wife, Susan, of Jefferson and Keith Mace and his wife, Vickie, of Olathe, Kansas, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Mace.
A celebration of Wayne’s life was held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Presbyterian Church in Jefferson with Rev. Daniel Emmert officiating. Burial was made in the Dawson Township Cemetery west of Paton. A special song was sung by Gary Haupert and selections “You” and “If There Hadn’t Been You” were played.
Casket bearers were Todd Mace, Larry Teeples, Gary Higgins, Rich Howe, Leon Schwenker, Wayne Juhl and Roger Riedesel. Honorary bearers were Mike Mace, Paul Chalstrom, Jerry Thilges, Gary Repp, Dan Brubaker and Ron Brubaker.
Visitation will be after 3 PM Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present from 5 to 8 PM.
