Marie Lindgren, the daughter of Lester and Florence (Daub) Davidson, was born September 13, 1924 in Union County, Iowa and departed this life June 29, 2012 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. She lived her life to the age of 87 years, 9 months and 16 days.

Marie attended grade school in Clarke County, Iowa and Knox County, Missouri. She graduated from High School in 1942 at Edina, Missouri. Marie was married to Joseph Lowell Small in 1942. Joseph died in France during WWII in 1945.

On March 20, 1947, Marie Davidson Small was married to Leonard Lindgren at the Covenant Church in Lanyon, Iowa. Leonard and Marie farmed near Paton and moved to their present home in Paton in 1975. Leonard passed away in June of 1998 and Marie continued to live in Paton until her death. Marie was a home care worker for several years and in 1968, she graduated from Licensed Practical Nursing School in Fort Dodge. She later worked at the Greene County Long Term facility and Gowrie Care Center.

Marie was a member of the Paton Presbyterian Church and was a Gold Star member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Left to mourn her passing are her children; Janis and her husband, Bill Humpal of Edina, Missouri, Larry Small and his wife, Bunny, of Tierra Verde, Florida, Galen Lindgren and his wife, Colleen, of Paton and Brent Lindgren and his wife, Renaye, of Churdan, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Allen Davidson of Edina, Missouri and John Davidson of Canada and a sister, Carol White of Edina, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Joseph Small and Leonard Lindgren, five grandchildren and a sister, Golda Wheaton.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 3, 2012, from the Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson with Marie’s grandson, Rev. Shawn Small officiating. Burial was made in the Paton Township Cemetery near Paton with Marie’s brother, Rev. Allen Davidson officiating. Musical selections at the service were “Mansion Over the Hilltop” sung by the congregation and “How Great Thou Art” sung by granddaughters, Amanda and Tricia with Rochelle Guess accompanying.

Serving as casket bearers were Marie’s grandsons.

Memorials are suggested to be given in care of “Good News India”.

Visitation will be after 4 PM Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 7 PM.
