Iva Katherine Zwicky, the daughter of Halsey and Mabel (Jones) McCain, was born December 8, 1927 at Rippey, Iowa, and departed this life January 1, 2012 in Jefferson, Iowa. She lived her life to the age of 84 years and 23 days.
Iva graduated from the Rippey High School in 1945 and later received an L.P.N. Degree from D.M.A.C.C. in 1972.
Iva was married to Marvin (Red) Shriver in 1946 and five children were born to this union. Iva and Marvin were divorced in 1975 and in 1980, Iva was married to Ronald Johnson. They made their home in Jefferson until Ronald died in 1985. Iva married Del Zwicky in 2003 and he died in 2004.
Iva worked as an LPN at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson until 1991 and then for Home Health Care until May of 2010.
Iva was a longtime active member of the Gospel Open Bible Church of Jefferson and enjoyed dancing, mission trips, traveling, church activities and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her four children; Donna Shriver (Clyde Bartel) of Gowrie, Deannda (Ron) Silbaugh of Marshalltown, Dale (Michelle) Shriver of Ankeny and Dan Shriver of Gulfport, Florida, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, nine sisters; Inez McCann, Mary Peterson, Laura Clark, Veda Cartwright, Eva Salisbury, Patricia Cotton, Karen Leggitt, Nancy Majerus and Linda Feth and one brother, John McCain. Those who preceded her in death were her parents, one sister, four brothers, her son David, and husbands, Ronald Johnson and Del Zwicky.
In accordance with her wishes, she donated her body to Des Moines University for medical study. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
