Funeral services for Lois Gregory, 95, of Jefferson will be held at 10:30 am Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson with Father Donald Ries officiating. Burial will be in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 pm Thursday at the Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm.

Lois B. Gregory, the daughter of James and Alice (Yates) McDonald, was born July 26, 1916 on her parent’s farm near Glidden, Iowa and departed this life July 9, 2012 at the Greene County Long Term Care Center in Jefferson, Iowa.

Lois graduated from the Glidden Consolidated School in 1933. On November 30, 1940, Lois McDonald was united in marriage to Myron (Mike) Gregory at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Jo Ann, Linda Mary and Michael. Mike served in Army during WWII and Lois worked at various jobs during that time. After Mike was discharged from the service in 1944, the family moved to Alleman, Iowa and in 1951, they moved to the family farm north of Ralston, Iowa. In 1960, they moved to Jefferson where Mike managed the farmer’s Coop for a few years and then started Gregory’s Implement dealership and Lois worked at the Greene County Treasurer’s Office for 12 years. They retired in 1977, traveled extensively and spent their winters in California and Arizona. Mike passed away in September of 2001 and Lois continued to live at home. She became a resident of the Greene County Long Term Care Center in 2007.

Lois was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and many of the church organizations. She had been a member of the Newcomer’s Club in Jefferson.

She is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann (Lee Poeppe) of Anita, Iowa, son, Michael (Linda) Gregory of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, grandchildren; Luke Gregory, Keri Poeppe (Joe Habbermann) and Michelle (Steve Egan), great-grandchildren; Sean and Matthew Egan, step-grandchildren; Rachel (Steve Molly), Cara (Andy Gates) and Josh Hein, step-great-grandchildren; Acer and Quince Nye and Kayla & Ashland Molly, a sister, Kate Henning of Scranton and several nieces and nephews. Those who preceded her in death were her parents, husband, daughter, Linda Mary, five brothers and one sister.
